explain about carbon compounds

Compounds that contain carbon are organic compounds. However they really consist of carbon and hydrogen as well as other elements depending on the classification.

Carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide are not organic even though they contain carbon because they do not contain hydrogen.

Organic carbon compounds consisting largely of carbon, commonly produced by animals and plants and hence called organic compounds.

Carbon forms covalent bond with other element carbon is tetravalent.

Carbon free radicals and Carbones occur as short lived intermediates. Ions of carbon are carbon cations and carbon ions, are also short lived.

The important property of carbon is catenation, the ability to form long carbon chains and rings.
