an equi convex lense is cut in to two halves in a plane passing through the principal axis.what is the focal length of each part?

power of the lens remains constant and we know power=1/focal length.
that is,2*power of each part= power of equi convex lens.
Let focal length of each part be x and focal length of equi convex lens be y.
2*(1/x)=1/y,that is x=2y.
focal length of each part becomes double the original focal length.
