what is self induction? |
Self induction is that phenomenon in which a change in electric current in a coil produces an induced emf in the coil itself. When current in a coil increases or decreases, there is a change in magnetic flux linking the coil.Hence, the e.m.f. is induced in the coil. This induced e.m.f. will oppose the change of current in the coil. V(opposing) = -L*(change in current/change in time) where L is the self-inductance of the circuit, measured in henry. |
