EXPLAIN HOW A NYAYA PANCHAYAT FUNCTIONS ?

An important function of panchayat system is to secure speedy and inexpensive justice to the villagers. For this purpose Nyaya panchayat have been established.
It is a body incharge of administration of civil and criminal justice in the villages lying within the jurisdiction of the Nyaya panchayat circle. The circle generally consist of no fewer than village panchayat. The panchayat elect one off the members as  the head of the nyaya panchayat. Civil case generally valued not exceeding a sum of Rs. 250 can be tried in this Panchayat with the conscent of the parties concerned.
