'EACH COLOURED RAY MAKES A DEFINITE ANGLE WITH THE LINE OF VISION .ALL WATER DROPLETS APPEARING IN THE SAME COLOUR MAKE THE SAME ANGLE WITH THE LINE OF VISION'. IS IT WILL BE SAME FOR ALL PEOPLE?CAN ALL PEOPLE SEE THE SAME RAINBOW AT THE SAME ANGLE?OR IT IS DIFFERENT RAINBOWS FORMED IN THE SKY THAT DIFFERENT PEOPLE SEE?WEHERE DOES THE RAINBOW FORMED? |
Raindrops in the sky actually serve to become millions of little prisms that break up the sunlight into colors. It is the light around the very edges of the raindrops that gets refracted into those spectacular colors of the spectrum. Those colors are then reflected off the back of the raindrops. The light that is refracted must leave the raindrop at precisely 42 degrees from the incoming rays. This is why rainbows can only be seen from certain spots and it is also why rainbows can only occur during certain times of the day. What is perhaps even more fascinating about the science of rainbows is that only one color is actually visible from any one raindrop at a time. And that color in turn depends on the angle from which you are looking at the rainbow.Since a rainbows is entirely dependent on the angle of the raindrops, the position of the sun, and the spot from which the rainbow is being observed, although you and another person may be looking at the same rainbow you will not be seeing it in exactly the same way. |
