what is the kinetic energy of an object? explain. |
Every moving object possesses kinetic energy. Kinetic energy is the
energy possessed by a body by the virtue of its motion. To do work a
body uses kinetic energy. To drive a nail into a log of wood kinetic
energy of hammer is used, a wind mills runs with the help of kinetic
energy in air, etc. In fact, every object around us which is moving possesses kinetic energy. For example,a runner has kinetic energy;a running motor cycle has kinetic energy;and an arrow flying through the air has also kinetic energy. When a moving body is brought to rest (stopped) by an opposing force, the kinetic energy is lost, being used up to do work in overcoming the resistance of opposing force. |
