i) Find the slope of the line x/a+y/b=1 ii)If the line joining the points (0,0),(1,1),and (2,2),(4,y) are perpendicular.Find y.

i) x/a + y/b = 1 implies bx + ay = ab
ie, y = -b/a x + b, which is of the form y = mx + c
 Here m = -b/a
ii) If the lines are perpendicular, m1 m2 = -1
m1 = 1/1 = 1
m2 = (y-2) /2
m1 m2 = -1 implies (y-2) /2 * 1 = - 1
ie, y-2 = -2
Hence y = 0
