Ask a Teacher

which is the hardest substance in our human body?

Enamel is the hardest substance in the human body. Enamel is essentially the tooth’s last line of defense, the outermost layer for the tooth that protects it from basic consumed substances. Enamel is the hardest and most  mineralized  part of the human body and is designed to be tough and durable.

Enamel is a unique part of the body for several different reasons. Other than the fact that it is the hardest substance in the human body, it is also one of the few components of the body that does not have some level of regeneration.
