Ask a Teacher

what is meant by transpiration?

Transpiration is the procedure by which moisture is transmitted through plants from roots to small openings on the underside of leaves, where it transformations to vapor and is unconfined to the atmosphere. Transpiration also involves a process called guttation, which is the loss of water in fluid form from the unharmed leaf or stem of the plant, mainly through water stomata.
