what is the exact meaning of atoms ? are they neutral ?

Atom

     Atom is the smallest unit of matter. Each atom consists of positively charged protons and charge-less neutrons inside a nucleus. Outside the nucleus electrons are revolving in a circle called orbits

         Nucleus that contains neutrons and protons, held together by the electrical attraction of one or more electrons.

       And atom is neutral because it has equal number of positively charged particles called protons and negatively charged particles called electrons.
