Define the term orbital velocity and escape velocity and derive the relation between them. |
Escape velocity is the maxim speed required to escape the gravity of the earth. The orbital velocity is d speed at which an object encircles d planet in its orbit. Relation: The kinetic energy of an object launched from the a planet were equal in magnitude to the potential energy, then in the absence of friction resistance it could escape from the planet. The escape velocity is given by: for finding the orbit velocity for a circular orbit set the gravitational force equal to the required centripetal force.: The orbit velocity and the escape velocity from that radius are related by the equation: |
