what are isobars? |
Isotopes are those element which have same atomic numbers but different atomic masses.Example - Hydrogen has three isotopes, namely, protium, deuterium and tritium.Isobars are those elements which have same atomic mass but different atomic number. An example of a series of isobars would be 40 Sulphur, 40 Chlorine, 40 Argon, 40 Potassium, and 40 Calcium. The nuclei of these atoms all contain 40 nucleons (Protons and Neutrons). They contain varying numbers of protons and neutrons. |
