A tank is in the form of a cube.When it is full of water ,the volume of water is 15.625 cu m . If the present depth of water is 1.3 m find the volume of water already used from the tank ?

volume of water in cubical tank=15.625m3.

then (side of the cubical tank)3=15.625m3.

a3=15.625m3.

thus a = cube root (15.625m3).

 =cube root{ (5)(5)(5)(0.5)(0.5)(0.5) }

therefore a= 5(0.5)=2.5m.

if the height is reduced to 1.3m,

then height of water used= 2.5 -1.3=1.2m

thus volume of water used = 2.5(2.5)(1.2)

 = 7.5m3.

  = 7500 litres.
