Sense Organs are the organs in our body
which enables information from the outside world to be received
through specific receptors that are connected to the brain by the
nerves. They are eyes, ears tongue, skin and nose. Sense organs
absorb energy from a physical stimulus from the environment and the
sensory receptors present in the sense organs convert this energy
into neural impulses and gets carried to the brain for processing. We
should take care of them by keeping them clean, by keeping them from
harm and by eating the right food. However, many habits of modern
life adversely affect the health of our sense organs.
Eye
Eyes are the most delicate part of our
body, as they are the window for us to the outer world. Smoking has
been a common habit in the modern world. It causes biochemical
changes in our bodies that accelerate aging by encouraging the
destruction of collagen. Lazy eyes and cataract are caused due to
heavy smoking. Smoking can cause the eyes to sting, water and blink
more often. Television has a powerful influence in the lives of most
children, computers have turned into an indispensable part of modern
life. Normally, most people have to work and study with computers.
Long-time focusing on computer screen and television releases the
lubrication of lachrymal fluid, causing eye dryness.Eye fatigue and
dry eyes are serious problems for millions of housewives who spend
several hours in front of a TV everyday. Burning or tired eyes,
double or blurred vision, eye twitching are also caused.
Ears
Ears are as important as eyes.Listening
to music through headphones at too high a volume is a common habit
among the teenagers of the modern life. This practice can seriously
damage our hearing. Our ears are accustomed to sounds between 40 to
50 decibels. Listening to sounds between 80 to 90 decibels can cause
permanent hearing loss. The hearing system can be injured not only by
a loud blast or explosion but also by prolonged exposure to high
noise levels.
Tongue
The tongue is a fairly tricky part of
the body in that it works to trap unhealthy bacteria, thereby causing
it to build up. Over time, this could cause a number of health
issues, including the ever awkward halitosis, which is medical word
for “bad breath.” To avoid this and other such problems, it’s
important to incorporate proper tongue care into your regular dental
routine.
Skin
Avoiding sun cream - the
best way to preserve the leather patches and plication of the use of
sunscreens. Too much alcohol in body makes your skin suffers. Alcohol
increases the level of inflammatory processes in the body which can
accelerate the loss of skin elasticity over time. Incorrect care
products - the use of creams that do not correspond to our type of
skin can be very big mistake. Sleep is a time when your body repairs
the damage accumulated during the day, a disorder that slows the
process of cell renewal. Also, can slow the flow of oxygen to the
skin, causing your skin to become pale. The best is 7-8 hours of
sleep for healthy skin.
Nose
Our sense of smell helps us enjoy life. We delight in the aromas of
our favorite foods or the fragrance of flowers. Our sense of smell
also is a warning system, alerting us to danger signals such as a gas
leak, spoiled food, or a fire. Any loss in our sense of smell can
have a negative effect on our quality of life. It also can be a sign
of more serious health problems. Smell disorders have many causes,
with some more obvious than others. Some of them are exposure to
certain chemicals, such as insecticides and solvents, numerous
medications, including some common antibiotics and antihistamines
etc. Usage of several popular cold remedies because they could result
in the loss of smell. Smoking also can interfere with our sense of
smell.
