can you answer me some examples of Transverse Waves & Longitudinal Waves. |
Water waves are an example of waves that involve a combination of both longitudinal and transverse motions. As a wave travels through the waver, the particles travel in clockwise circles. The radius of the circles decreases as the depth into the water increases. Longitudinal waves:The best example is a sound wave. Sound, including ultrasound and infrasonic waves, can travel well through a variety of substances. When sound waves travel through the air, they create pressure distortions in the air molecules. The distortions are compressions and rarefactions in the air, which in this case, is the medium. The air particles move back and forth in a direction parallel to that of the travelling sound wave. |
