Why Sri Lankan Tamils felt alienated

The feeling of alienation was seen among the srilankan tamils bcoz of the following reasons-

after Sri Lanka got independence in 1948,sinhalas opted a constitution which established their power in country.buddhism,religion followed by sinhalas,was greatly promoted.the people belonging to sinhala community were preferred for the government job.sinhala was made the official language of Sri Lanka ,sidelining tamil.moreover, their demand of aseperate state was also ignored.
