We take u as 0 when an object falls down..... and why do we take v as 0 when we throw a ball and it falls on the ground?

(1) u as 0 when an object falls down since the acceleration happens due to the pull of gravity.

(2) v as 0 when we throw a ball since the deceleration happens due to the pull of gravity
