why shadow is sometimes bigger than the actual image?

You and your shadow form a right angled triangle. Assuming it's the sun forming your shadow, that is an extension of the hypotenuse. If the sun is at 45 degrees in the sky, the shadow will be the same length as your body. If the sun is higher in the sky, your shadow will be shorter than you and if the sun is lower in the sky, your shadow will be longer.
