Define the term ‘evolution’. ‘‘Evolution should not be equated with progress.’’ Give reason to justify this statement.

Evolution, also known as descent with modification, is the change in heritable phenotype traits of biological populations over successive generations.

Evolution cannot be equated with progress. It shows that there would have been more complex body designs. Thus evolution is simply the generation of diversity and shaping of diversity by environmental design.
