what are the characteristics of photo electric effect

Observations or characteristics of photo electric effect:
  1. Only photons of light of certain minimum frequency called threshold frequency can cause the photo electric effect from a particular metal surface,  which has large intensity of photons. The threshold value is different for different metals.
  2. The kinetic energy of the electrons which are emitted is directly proportional to the frequency of the striking photons and is independent of their intensity.
  3. The number of electrons that are ejected per second from the metal surface depends upon the intensity of the striking photons or radiations and not upon their frequency.
