Explanation for cold and warm ocean currents.

Cold ocean current originate at the higher latitudes and flow towards the equator. Its temperature is lower by a few degrees than the surrounding waters temperature.

Warm ocean currents are those that originate near the equator and flow towards the poles.Temperatures of the coastal areas are pushed up by the warm currents.It help navigation in a great way,as they melt the ice berg.
