WHAT IS RAMAN EFFECT?

Raman effect is a phenomenon in Physics. If a monochromatic light (light having a single wavelength) passes through some clear liquids the light that comes out has more lines (more wavelengths) than the incident light. The outcoming waves with longer wavelengths are known as Stoke's lines and those with shorter wavelengths are known as anti-Stoke's lines. These lines depend on the medium through which the light has passed. That gives us a method of identifying the material.
