Why NaCl gives a white precipitate with AgNO3 solution but CCL4 does not?

Both AgNO3 and NaCl are ionic compounds. When goes into solution it readily forms ions and undergo reaction.

Hence

.
But CCl4 is a covalent compound and therefore it wont form free moving ions like ionic compounds and hence does not undergo any reaction with AgNO3.
