WRITE TWO APPLICATIONS OF NEWTONS FIRST LAW OF MOTIONS |
Newton's First Law of motion can be stated as under:Every body continues in its state of rest or of uniform motion in a straight line unless it is compelled by some external force to change that state. In everyday life there are a large number of examples of Newton's First Law of motion, but only a few are given below. (i) When a man jumps to get into a train,he falls backward. It is because as soon as his feet come in contact with the train, they acquire the speed of train but the upper part of his body tends to be at rest due to inertia.Consequently, he falls backwards. (ii) When we beat a carpet with a stick, dust particles are removed. It is because the carpet is suddenly set into motion but the dust particles tend to remain at rest due to inertia. Therefore dust particles are removed from the carpet. |
