What type of an insect is the bumble bee?

Bumble Bee

Home: It lives in small nests and do not swarm. The queen
will spend its entire life in the nest. The queen bumble bee
will start the nest when it is ready to lay eggs. It produces worker bees first to collect pollen.

What it eats: As an adult, It drinks the nectar from flowers, or juices from fruit. It will only produce enough honey to feed the young bumblebees, which it stores in honey pots.

What it looks like: It is ¾ of an inch in length, have four
wings, a stinger at the end of its abdomen and is usually
yellow and black in color. It appears to be 'furry' compared to other bees. It is bigger than a honey bee, but it is much less aggressive and usually will only attack if it feel its life is in danger.

How It is born: Each spring the queen bee builds a nest out of wax.  It already has eggs when it builds the nest.
It deposits an egg in each cell and pollen for food, then seals up the cell. The egg hatches, go through larva and pupa stages, and develop into an adult worker bee, cutting the way out of the wax cell. This takes about 21 days.
