What is chemical equilibrium? |
The equilibrium between two chemical species present in the same or different phases is called chemical equilibrium . The chemical equilibrium are classified as homogenous and heterogeneous depending upon whether the reaction involves only one phase or or more than one phases respectively . Characteristics of chemical equilibrium (i) A chemical equilibrium can be established only in closed systems.. (ii) Chemical equilibrium can be attained from either end of a reversible reaction . (iii) Chemical equilibrium does not change with time ,so long as the external factors remain the same . (iv)Chemical equilibrium is a dynamic equilibrium. |
