history of internet |
Internet is a global network of computer networks that enables information to be exchanged. Internet was started in the year 1969 by US Department of Defense and was named as ARPANET (Advanced Research Projects Agency Network). The goal of this project was to connect computers at different universities and US defense. In mid 80’s another agency National Science Foundation (NSF) created a new high capacity network, which was more capable than ARPANET and was called as NSFnet. Then some other private companies also built their own network. Later ARPANET, NSFnet and private networks combine to form internet. |
