Ask a Teacher

why do we feel tickling?

There are several sensory receptors present in the various parts of our body. Among other things, these receptors register the sense of touch. But in addition to sensory receptors, certain parts of our body such as the belly, the lower surface of the foot, the palms, the neck and the waist have a high concentration of touch corpuscles. It is these touch corpuscles that make these areas more sensitive to touch and, therefore, they are more prone to tickling.
