WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HYDRO CARBONS AND ORGANIC CHEMISTRY? |
Organic chemistry : It is the study of carbon compounds or we can say that it is the chemistry of specific carbon compounds except -oxides ,carbonates ,bicarbonates and metallic carbides That is there are exceptions : Carbon monoxide (CO),Carbonates (Na2CO3 ) ,Thiocyanates (NaSCN),Carbon dioxide (CO2),Cyanides (KCN),Carbides (CaC2) ,Carbondisulphide (CS2).These compounds are studied as a part of inorganic chemistry because of their properties . Hydrocarbons : They are organic compounds composed of carbon and hydrogen only Example : methane (CH4) ,ethane (C2H6 ) ,ethene (C2H4 ) and ethyne C2H2 ) |
