what are uses of D2O(hard water)?

Deuterium oxide is prepared by the repeated electrolysis of water .It is used as a moderator in nuclear reactors and it does the function of slowing down the fast moving neutrons and thus controls the rate of nuclear fission  .It is also useful in the preparation of other deuterium compounds .
