,WHAT IS DIPOLE-DIPOLE MOMENT?

A dipole consists of a positive and negative charge (equal in magnitude)

separated by a distance within a molecule .Dipole moment is defined as the product of the magnitude of charge on any one  of the atoms and the distance between them .

Dipole moment is represented as (? )

?=qd, where q isthe charge and d is the distance .

The dipole in  HF may be represented as ,

The shift in electron density is symbolised by crossed arrow above the Lewis structure to indicate the direction of the shift .
