What is pronouns? |
A pronoun is often defined as a word which can be used instead of a noun. For example, instead of saying John is a student, the pronoun he can be used in place of the noun John and the sentence becomes He is a student. We use pronouns very often,
especially so that we do not have to keep on repeating a noun. Examples of pronouns: He, she, it, you, they, them, yourself, myself, himself, herself, yourselves, whom, etc. More Example Sentences: David reads the paper; he
reads it every morning. >>The pronoun 'he' replaces
the noun 'David' and 'it' replaces 'paper'.
The boys didn't make the team and they
were very sad. >>The pronoun 'they' replaces
the noun 'boys'.
Jane sent her mother yellow roses which
are her favorite flowers. >>The pronoun 'which' replaces
the noun 'roses' and the possessive pronoun 'her' stands in for the possessive
noun 'mother's'. |
