There are two different kinds of sweat glands. One kind is all over your
body, and the other is in places that have higher concentrations of
hair (scalp, armpits and genital area). The first kind produces
basically just salty water, and that doesn't stink. The second kind
produces oily sweat, and bacteria love to eat that. But even the
bacteria doesn't really smell - they're always in your armpits, but they
don't always smell. The smell is actually the waste produced by the
