What is the role of the police in investigating a crime ?

The Public Prosecution Service orders the investigation of more serious crimes. The police, government, municipalities and judiciary work together to prevent and combat crime.The local mayor, police and public prosecutor consult each other closely on crime. Informers can also play an important role in crime prevention: housing associations, fire services, energy suppliers, postmen and cleaning services sometimes come across illegal practices in their work. Members of the public can also play an important role.
