WHAT IS MEAN BY ISOMERISM? |
Isomerism is the phenomenon whereby certain compounds with the same molecular formula exists in different forms owing to their different organisations of atoms . Properties of isomers :They have similar chemical properties but different physical properties. Types of isomerism 1.Structural isomerism :It is due to difference in manner of linking of atoms . 2.Chain isomerism : It is due to difference in arrangements of carbon atoms in the chain . 3.Position isomerism : It is due to difference in position of functional group . 4.Stereo isomerism : It is due to difference in arrangement of atoms around the double bond . |
