WHAT IS HOMOSPHERE AND HETEROSPHERE?

The homosphere is a zone of the atmosphere where the constituent gases are fairly well mixed-on average the composition is homogeneous throughout. The homosphere is the portion of the earth's atmosphere, up to an altitude of about 50 milesabove sea level, in which there is continuous turbulent mixing, and hence the composition of the atmosphere is relatively constant; as opposed to the heterosphere or exosphere, the higher regions in which the composition becomes stratified.

The heterosphere lies above the homosphere and is a zone of poor mixing where the average composition varies depending on the location within it.The hetero-sphere is characterized by variation in the composition and the mean molecular weight of constituent gases. This region starts at 50 to 60 miles (80–100 km) above the earth and, therefore, closely coincides with the ionosphere and the thermosphere.
