Glycolysis is defined as a definite sequence of ten reactions involving ten intermediate compounds (one of the steps involving two intermediates) .Example:  the intermediate dihydroxyaceton phosphate (DHAP) is a source of the glycerol that combines with fatty acids to form fat.
