Most of the civilizations are based on the rivers.Why?
Early humans were nomads.When they started to get settled in their life, their main occupation was agriculture. They began to live by the river sides as water is the main commodity for agriculture. With the development of these settlements trade also developed.As water transport was the easiest mode of transport  of that time, most of the important trades were through rivers. All these factors led to the development of early river bank civilizations.
