what is trabeate?

It is a form of construction which prevailed in ancient Greece, Egypt, Rome. It was directly related to the development of the architectural orders, a system in which the columns surrounding temples and other public buildings were surmounted by an entablature formed by rectangular architrave blocks, a frieze and cornice. The Temple of Hephaistos in Athens, the Colosseum in Rome are the best examples.
