How are cell formed? |
| New cells are formed when pre-existing cells divide. There are two basic forms of cellular division---meiosis and mitosis. Meiosis is the specialized process for the formation of cells for sexual reproduction while mitosis concerns the formation of new cells that are replicas of their parent cells. In higher life forms mitosis is often related to regenerating tissue.. For many simpler life forms, especially single-celled organisms, it is a form of reproduction---asexual reproduction---by cell division through mitosis. |
