Ask a Teacher

do tree frog lay eggs?

Tree frogs lay very few eggs. Some lay their their eggs in the water collected at the base of bromeliads found high up on the trees.

Other actually carry their eggs around on their backs until they hatch. Then they look for bromeliads to deposit their tadpoles.

Another interesting fact is, some tree frogs even revisit these pools and lay unfertilised eggs for their tadpoles to eat as they develop.
