what are homogeneous and heterogeneous mixtures? |
A mixture is said to be homogeneous if it has the same composition and properties through out . Example : Bronze -a mixture of copper (80 %) ,zinc (2% ) and tin (18 %) Constituents of mixture - uniformly mixed Composition - uniform through out mixture. Heterogeneous mixture : A mixture is said to be heterogeneous if different parts of it have different composition and properties. Example : Gun powder -mixture of charcoal ,sulphur and nitrite (KNO3 ) Constituents of mixture -not uniformly mixed . Composition - varies through out the mixture . |
