What is a balanced chemical equation? Why should chemical equation be balanced?

Balanced Chemical Equation

An equation for a chemical reaction in which the number of atoms for each element in the reaction and the total charge are the same for both the reactants and the products. In other words, the mass and the charge are balanced on both sides of the reaction.

Example for a balanced chemical equation:

If u want to determine the quantities of reactants or products then the balancing of chemical equation is absolutely essential. A balanced equation assusres that the conservation law of matter is obeyed (The total mass of reactants must equal the total mass of products). A balanced equation tells the propotional quantities of each substance involved.

However an unbalanced equation can say nothing about the quantities involved until the equation has been balanced, it merely gives only the identity of the begining reactants and the final products.
