   Constantinople was the capital of Byzantine empire. Constantinople is located right between the black sea and the entrance to the  Mediterranean sea. This geographical significance of Constantinople made it an important port city. Most trade between Asia, Europe and North Africa had to pass through the Byzantine Empire. It was the meeting placed ancient Greek and Persian culture. All these significance made Byzantine a very wealthy empire for a time.
