what is colloid?

A colloid is a substance microscopically dispersed evenly through out another substance .A colloidal system consists of two separate phases ,a dispersed phase and a continuous phase in which the colloid is dispersed .A colloidal system may be solid, liquid or gas .Colloidal solutions are turbid ,heterogeneous mixtures in which particles that is dispersed substance exist in an intermediate state between molecules or ions of a true solution and that of a suspension.
