Mixtures of liquids can be separated according to their properties .Liquids are of two types ,miscible and immiscible liquids . Immiscible liquids : A mixture of oil and water can be separated by using a funnel . Miscible liquids : Miscible liquids are separated by using fractional distillation .This can be done if the miscible liquids have different boiling points .It is used for the distillation of petroleum ,coal tar ,and crude alcohol. |
