OHM LAW

  Ohm's Law states that the current (I) flowing through a conductor is directly proportional to the potential difference (V) applied across its ends, provided the temperature and other physical conditions remain uncharged.

Mathematical Representation of Ohm's Law

According to Ohm's Law

                                  I ? V

this can also be written as :  V ? I

                              or      V  = R × I

Where R is a constant called  "resistance" of the conductor. The above equation can also be written as:

                         V/I  = R

             where   V = Potential difference

                          I  = current

               and   R  = Resistance (which is a constant)

The equation  V/I  = R can be written as

                          V = I × R

or           Current,I = V/R

It is obvious from this relation that.

  1. the current is directly proportional to potential difference, and
  2. the current is inversely proportional to resistance.
