please explain about forward biasing and backward biasing and about their graphical representation.

A diode is a two-terminal( P and N ) electronic component. The most common function of a diode is to allow  electric current to pass in one direction (called the diode's forward biasing), while blocking current in the opposite direction (the reverse biasing).

Forward biasing : P terminal connected to +ve & N terminal connected to -ve terminal of power supply.

Reverse biasing : P terminal connected to -ve & N terminal connected to +ve terminal of power supply.
The forward chara shows  increase in forward current after the knee voltage and only leakage current of very small value flows during reverse region. After a particular reverse voltage the diode breaks down and abrupt change in reverse current will occur.
