How is oxygen in the atmosphere replaced?

About 98% of atmospheric oxygen comes from photosynthesis, the process by which plants produce sugars from carbon dioxide and water. The remainder results from the breakup of water by ultraviolet radiation. The rest from Cyanobacteria . It is said that phytoplanktons (organisms in sea) which are  release the bulk of oxygen  into the atmosphere. Recent research show evidence of this phenomenon.
