The wealthy families of the Italian cities led an extravagant life. They brought architects and artists from differnt part of the world to build beautiful buildings. Sculptors, artists and men of letters from far off places thus reached Italian cities. The exponents of art, literature and science from both the east and west thus reached these cities.
